Supplies:
Trace templates onto freezer paper and cut out. Press head template to a doubled piece of Osenburg. Sew around and sew around again close to first stitching to avoid fraying. Cut out leaving a 1/8" seam allowance. Turn right side out and stuff to a soft firmness. Sew the bottom together about 1/4" from the bottom edge. Fray the bottom edge to stitching line by pulling out a few horizontal threads. Starting about 1" from top of head draw features on her face lightly with a pencil. Paint in the white of the eye. Paint the iris green, pupil black, add a white highlight to the pupil. Color the eyelid tan and also around the outline of the eye. Paint the eyebrows, nose and the 3 lines under eyes black. The mouth is also drawn in black. With rust paint a heart shape for lips in the center of the black line. Also add a triangle at each corner of the mouth. Draw some black lines through the triangles. Cut
an 8" x 3/4" strip of Osenburg. Sew 1/4" from one long
edge. Fray to the stitching line pulling out a few horizontal threads.
Use some bright yellow paint to paint the fringe at the bottom edge
of the head, do the same for the fringe you just made from the long
strip, set aside to dry. Starting at back of head, sew the hair strip around the head with the fringe to the outside. Sew lace around her neck and add a bow. Also sew lace around the hand-sewn edge of hat where it meets the brim. Sew the hat to the head and add a bow to the brim. When finished add a pin back!
