Holly, Dreaming of a White Christmas
Costume for The Doll for All Seasons

One of our favorite holiday movies is "White Christmas".  Meet Holly, who dreams of snow and has the outfit to celebrate the season.  Begin with fabulous underwear, thigh high nylon stockings, lace-up boots with 4" heels (1" in doll scale), and a beautiful dress complete with capelet, muff, gloves, and hat band.  We teach you to insert grommets, sculpt high heels, fashion a new style wig, make your own doll curlers, and include a special leg pattern created for removable high heels. This stand alone doll can be dressed in several different ways, ready to wish everyone Merry Christmas.

Elizabeth Tilley, 1620 Mayflower Pilgrim
Costume for The Doll for All Seasons

The authentic costume for this character  based on Bonnie's ancestor features a waistcoat with 9 gussets (they didn't use darts), a coif (cap) straight from Plymouth Plantation, square-toed shoes with "roses" (very popular in 1620), a shift, petticoat, and skirt using fabrics, patterns and colors available in the 1600's.

Noonapokus, 1621 Wampanoag Indian
Costume for The Doll for All Seasons

Noonapokus, which means "Wood Turtle" in Wôpanâak, is dressed in the traditional clothing worn by the Wampanoag in 1621.  In addition to the fringed skirt, she wears a one-shoulder mantle on top to protect from cold weather.  Learn how to make a 12-braid hemp belt, weave a basket from corn husks and raffia, make leather "wedding" moccasins, and create clothing from Doe Suede and real leather, using trims, beading and paint to enhance the outfit.

There are 11 different kinds of items needed to create BOTH a Pilgrim and Indian.  Included are weaving, braiding and beading supplies for the Indian along with special trims and basket goodies; and drawstrings, ribbons, and socks for the Pilgrim.  You will need to purchase leather and round leather lace, along with any fabrics needed to complete the dolls.  In addition we have included a special surprise Bonnie purchased direct from Plymouth , Massachusetts .  Your dolls won't enjoy this gift, but we think you will find it very useful.

Your September kit has 11 different items needed to create this artistic dryad, including lots of autumn leaves, berries and floral tape, Phoenix colored boa feather yarn for her hair, fabric and ribbon for her costume, and materials for her paint pallet, brush, and shoes. You only need to add ethnic fabric (we used #9 Dark Hispanic) for the body, a wooden base and tree branch, Neocolor II Watersoluble Crayons to dye her outfit, 20 gauge wire, hairpin lace loom for her wig, basic doll supplies, and the Doll for All Seasons and Dryad patterns.

Learn to make two different historical shoes (Ghillies and Turnshoes), socks (using a pattern from the 1500's), chatelaine pouch, beaded kertch, Léine , spiral laced Shinrone overdress, embroidered and beaded underskirt, and jewelry.  You will also learn how to weft hair with invisible parts, braid elaborate coiffure, miter lace, and dye fabric using a common spice found in your kitchen.  Included in the pattern are historical footnotes from the sixteenth century to bring you a touch of Old Ireland.
